1932 Chein, No. 258 Popeye Barrel Walking Toy in Original Box
Classic mechanical tin litho Popeye toy in wonderful excellent+ to near mint working condition. Even more remarkable; it comes complete with its very scarce original box. Popeye's head pivots on top while his legs shuffle quickly from side to side. It uses a spring wind-up motor and has an attached key. The box was printed using one color for text and graphics. Two panel shows a full illustration of the toy. The rest of the box includes the Popeye logo, the toys' name, manufacturer, and the Chein logo. Manufactured by Chein from 1932 to the mid-1930's the barrel symbolized the difficult times of the Great Depression. Size: 7". Sold: Oct. 2005
